Oso Yoga is my brand of Strong Gentle Yoga. A bear is an interesting mix of strength, grace, drive, desire and playfulness. I have long identified with bears, and others have identified me as a bear. My kids starting calling me papa bear when they were tiny little ones, and more recently the love of my life, Victoria, named me Oso. As a yoga teacher, I bring the same sense of strength, grace and playfulness to my classes and workshops.

Oso Yoga: If a bear was doing yoga, it would not care how the pose looked. It would not use any unnecessary effort to enter and hold a pose, but it would engage serious strength whenever it wanted to be in a pose. Al started stretching seriously in 8th grade when he was suffering from back pain at an early age.  A doctor told him “I have seen tight hamstrings without a sore back, but I have never seen a sore back that did not have tight hamstrings”.  From then on staying loose and limber was always a part of Al’s daily routine. When a college friend showed up in his town in 1998 talking about a yoga teacher training program he started studying with his friend and was hooked. Studying with many teachers of different styles, Al found his yoga home with the Gravity & Grace system and finished his Teacher Training with Peter Sterios in 2013. While officially teaching since June of 2013, Al has shared yoga with friends and family for years. Coaching, teaching and helping others comes naturally to Al, and he looks forward to sharing yoga with you.
